The complexity and an unprecedented number of humanitarian emergencies requiring a health response have resulted in an increased demand for competent humanitarian healthcare providers. The course aims at providing knowledge, strategies, and tools to work as medical personnel in a humanitarian situation. It also provides public health strategies to decrease morbidity and mortality as well as tools for preventive and curative management of the main diseases and disorders in a broad range of areas needed for the front-line humanitarian health staff. It provides knowledge of the global health situation and factors that determine health status, how context and different types of disasters affect the health of populations.
Healthcare providers have their own skill sets unique to their respective practice. However, these are not enough because working in a dynamic humanitarian environment requires an entirely different set of competencies. The globally required competencies are what is offered by this course.
The topics to be covered include ;

• Disaster management in emergencies
• Global health and humanitarian health assistance
• Communicable diseases and epidemic outbreaks
• Humanitarian emergency management
• Global maternal and child health
• Public health in emergencies
• Clinical cases in emergencies

Course Begins on the 1st of every month for three months.
