JOB SUMMARY
• The District Assistant supports the District SM RI Coordinator in implementing and following up social mobilization activities related to routine immunization in RAATA areas, with one sub-coordinator assigned to each targeted district.
• Supports planning and implementation of community awareness activities to increase demand for vaccination services and improve access for target children and communities.
• Follows up the work of social mobilizers/community health workers in the field and ensures implementation of daily and weekly work plans.
• Contributes to coordination with health facilities, vaccination teams, community leaders, and relevant local stakeholders.
• Collects community feedback, monitors rumors or concerns related to vaccination, and reports them to the district coordinator.
Supports quality documentation, reporting, and follow-up of social mobilization activity indicators at district level.
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The District SM RI Coordinators has the following responsibilities and duties:
Coordination and Planning:
• Assist the District SM RI Coordinator in preparing daily and weekly work plans.
• Follow up task distribution to social mobilizers and ensure activities are implemented according to approved schedules.
• Support alignment of messages and activities with program guidance and approved standards.
Field Supervision and Monitoring:
• Follow up the performance of social mobilizers during awareness sessions and community visits.
• Conduct regular field visits to verify activity quality and report observations to the direct supervisor.
• Identify community barriers affecting vaccine acceptance or access to immunization services.
Reporting and Coordination:
• Collect daily/weekly reports from social mobilizers and conduct initial review for completeness.
• Document community feedback, complaints, and rumors related to vaccination and report them through the approved mechanism.
• Participate in field and coordination meetings when required and support follow-up of recommendations.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
Should have the following skills, education, and experience:
Educational Qualification
University degree or diploma—or equivalent—in one of the following fields:
• Public Health
• Nursing or Community Health Work
• Social Sciences or Community Development
• Community Communication or any related field
1. Experience
• A minimum of 3 years of practical experience in community mobilization, health awareness, community work, or health programs.
• Previous experience in immunization programs or health campaigns is strongly preferred
• Experience in supervising field teams or volunteers and preparing periodic reports.
2. Technical Skills
• Good knowledge of community communication, health awareness, and routine immunization principles.
• Ability to plan, coordinate, follow up teams, and solve field-level problems.
• Good reporting skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
• Commitment to confidentiality, neutrality, code of conduct, safeguarding, and accountability policies.
