Position Summary
The MEAL Assistant will support the SMART Centre Project by ensuring systematic monitoring, evaluation, accountability, and learning of project activities. The role involves data collection, analysis, reporting, and supporting decision-making to improve project outcomes and accountability to stakeholders.
Key Roles and Responsibilities
1. Monitoring & Evaluation
-Support the design and implementation of monitoring tools, surveys, and data collection instruments.
-Collect and verify quantitative and qualitative data from project activities.
-Maintain accurate records of project indicators and performance data.
-Assist in tracking project progress against targets and objectives.
2. Accountability & Learning
-Support mechanisms for community feedback, complaints, and suggestions.
-Assist in documenting lessons learned and best practices from project activities.
-Contribute to regular project reviews and learning sessions.
3. Data Management & Reporting
-Enter, clean, and maintain project data in databases and spreadsheets.
-Prepare routine reports, dashboards, and visualizations for project staff and management.
-Ensure timely and accurate reporting of project results to donors and stakeholders
4.Support for Project Staff
-Assist field teams in understanding MEAL processes and tools.
-Provide technical support for data collection and reporting.
-Participate in field visits, assessments, and evaluations as required.
5.Support Audits & Evaluations
-Assist in internal and external audits by providing accurate data and documentation.
-Ensure all MEAL activities comply with organizational standards and donor requirements.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities.
1. Diploma or bachelor’s degree in social sciences, Statistics, Development Studies, Monitoring & Evaluation, or a related field.
2. At least 2 years’ experience in monitoring, evaluation, or data management, preferably in NGO or development project settings.
3. Experience working with databases, surveys, or digital data collection tools is an advantage.
4. Strong data collection, analysis, and reporting skills.
5. Knowledge of MEAL frameworks, indicators, and tools.
6. Proficiency in MS Excel, Google Sheets, or data management software.
7. Attention to detail and accuracy in data handling.
8. Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
9. Strong organizational and time management skills.
10. High integrity, accountability, and reliability.
11. Analytical and solution-oriented mindset.
12. Good communication and interpersonal skills.
13. Methodical, organized, and detail focused.
14. Willingness to travel to field sites as needed.
