As the Senior Advisor for Child Protection in Emergencies, you will be responsible for the technical leadership, strategic development and quality implementation of child protection programming in WV’s humanitarian responses. You will lead the development and testing of interventions and technical guidance for CPiE, as well as designing and developing proposals to mobilize resources for maintaining or scaling up child protection in emergency programs. You will also ensure child protection is mainstreamed in all operations and seek effective collaboration with other sectors to promote integrated programming. This may also be done through deployments to field offices/Responses and/or dedicated technical support.
This role will provide capacity building for field staff and key stakeholders in the areas of Child Protection in Emergencies, through training and coaching, while contributing to improving knowledge and skills of WV and partners’ staff in addressing protection concerns of children in crisis. You will lead the development, recruitment and ongoing engagement of the CPiE roster of surge-ready staff. The Sr Advisor will share global minimum standards, inter-agency guidance, best practices, etc. with child protection in emergencies and other relevant teams. The Advisor will also represent World Vision in global CPiE/CPHA networks for increased learning, impact, income and influence as much as possible.
Requirements include:
- Master’s degree in social work, International Development, Child Development, International Relations, Humanitarian Protection, Human Rights, or other relevant degree.
- Minimum 7 years of experience in a technical position related to child protection in humanitarian settings.
- Experience mentoring and coaching staff to improve CP technical quality, as well as mainstreaming in key sectors such as Education, Food Security and Livelihoods, WASH, Health & Nutrition etc.
- Experience in donor related project design and proposal development, including grant acquisition with public and private donors such as USAID/BHA, ECHO, FCDO, GAC, ADH, etc.
- Experience living and working in a fragile/humanitarian context preferred.
- Experience and understanding of the humanitarian architectures, clusters’ approach, standards and humanitarian funding cycle is essential.
- Effective written and verbal communication in English. Other UN languages such as French, Arabic, Spanish, Portuguese, preferred.
- Ability to travel to/within domestically and internationally as required, including up to 60% travel for deployments and technical assistance assignments.
