About the role
The Kenyan country office are looking to recruit a Country Programme Manager to oversee the development, coordination, implementation and management of Sightsavers programmes in Kenya across key thematic areas of Eye Health, Inclusive Education, Inclusive Health, Economic Empowerment, Disability and Gender Inclusion and Citizen Participation. The post-holder reporting to the Country Director will provide strategic leadership, technical oversight, and high‑quality programme management across a diverse portfolio of Sightsavers projects.

Key accountabilities but not limited to:
- Lead programme design, work‑planning, and implementation in alignment with Sightsavers thematic strategies.
- Lead in setting direction, assuring quality, managing risk and making decisions while supporting Project Managers and Officers handle day to day delivery.
- Provide technical leadership to ensure programmes are evidence‑based, disability inclusive, gender responsive and scalable.
- Oversee through structured reviews, performance management and escalation the end‑to‑end management of multiple projects, ensuring delivery on time, within scope, and on budget.
- Ensure high-quality delivery, compliance with donor and internal standards, and alignment with global programme quality frameworks.
- Strengthen programme quality through routine reviews, risk management, adaptive programming, and quality assurance mechanisms.
- Drive learning, innovation, and documentation of best practices across the programme portfolio.
- Promote a culture of evidence-driven learning and continuous improvement across all interventions.
- Provide direction and support to assist country teams and help them to identify opportunities and learnings to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of programme delivery in Kenya
Essential knowledge and skills
- Master’s degree in international development, Public Health, Social Sciences, Development Studies, or a related field.
- Demonstrate progressive experience in programme management within NGOs/INGOs or development agencies.
- Proven track record managing large, complex, multi-country or multi-donor programmes.
- Strong technical expertise relevant to the organization’s thematic areas (for example health, education, livelihoods, disability inclusion).
- Strong leadership and people-management capabilities
- Excellent strategic thinking, problem-solving, and decision‑making abilities.
- High proficiency in programme cycle management and MEL.
- Current and ongoing right to work in Kenya
